Through screen dance, I am fascinated by capturing raw, human expression through an embodied camera, and translating choreographic concepts into the editing process.
I am interested in reimagining new possibilities for audiences to experience movement and dance by framing, and reframing, human embodiment and perspectives through the camera lens.
Exploring this hybrid form of dance and film allows me to cross boundaries and discover qualitative embodiments of trust, sensitivity, tension, and intimacy. I utilize the camera lens as a way to frame reality and reveal things we don’t always notice, or acknowledge, about ourselves, our environment, and humanity in general.
Screen dance provides the viewer a platform for accessing a level of intimate, embodied awareness they would not otherwise gain through forms of live dance performance and new media.
